Geesh......NO NEW STEPHEN KING NEWS!!
Nope, nothing, nada, zilch, zero!!! This has been a very dry period for Stephen King news. ATSK has been waiting for news on the next book for the fall or maybe CD will offer another novella like Blockade Billy. Ms. Mod mentioned that they forgot to name the book during the UStream chat earlier this year. All I could say to that was what, nooooooo, how could you forget to announce it? (We were so close to knowing...ha ha) Now we won't know until sometime in March thru May (I'm guessing) but you just never know, it could be sooner. News on the upcoming multitude of movies would be nice too, until then we sit in a suspenseful limbo.

"The Stand" on the BIG SCREEN according to The Hollywood Reporter
The Hollywood Reporter article here .
After the exceptional graphic novels published of The Stand, I embrace the idea of another reason to head to the theatre. Warner Bros. and CBS have a chance to take this film and make it an instant classic if they do it right. Warner Bros. has my vote after The Harry Potter film(s) The Deathly Hallows Part 1 was done so well that I believe that they could take The Stand to the next level and beyond. Warner Bros.
"gets" the concept of a dark film, so have at it!

Question of the Day #60: Is there a Stephen King related item(s) that you didn't purchase that you wish you had?
The purchase that I wish I had made was Under The Dome
UK Signed Limited Edition. (limited to 500) I had this book in the cart ready to purchase......one thing I've learned, you snooze you lose.
Also The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon (Pop-Up Book)
, (Do you remember the quote by Dana Carvey as Pistachio Disguisey "It's a pop-up" in The Master of Disguise? He cracks me up, now every time I think of or hear the word pop-up I think of him.
) I wish I would have grabbed it when I saw it. I marveled at pop-up books as a child and it would be the only one I have in my collection. If I'm not mistaken this was a limited edition book.

Question of the Day #58: Which is better "Carrie" the book or the original movie?
On a final note, when reading the book Carrie, my mind kept going back to SK as a starving artist. I marvel at his conviction in the beginning with all of the obstacles he and his family overcame.

Question of the Day #57: Has anyone read "Lilja's Library: The World of Stephen King" yet?
Sadly no, I haven't read this one yet. I was hoping to find one at a bookstore that I could browse through and decide if I wanted to purchase it. If you have read it, what do you think about this book?

Question of the Day #56: Who would you like to see play Eddie Dean?
ATSK's choice for Eddie Dean is Shia LeBouf.
He is about the right age to play Eddie.
His build is about what I imagined for Eddie.
Playing a "bad boy" wouldn't be too much of stretch for him.
Shia is a talented actor that could evolve his character from a drug addict into Roland' friend and sidekick.
Let me know what you think of him or anyone else you think could play the role of Eddie Dean.

Stephen King wraps up seven years with Entertainment Weekly
After seven years King wraps up his "Pop of King" EW column as mentioned in this short blurb circulated by the Associated Press posted by WRCB-TV read here. One admirable thing about King IMO is that if he likes a movie, tv show, band, (Microwave Dave & the Nukes) or an author he takes the time mention it.
Microwave Dave & the Nukes
Why, why, why, whhhhhhy! The one thing I looked forward to each month were his funny, insightful articles. It's a good thing I didn't cave and get that 5 year subscription after all! The mag is out Jan. 7, 2011. I'll miss reading your monthly columns Stephen.

Ron Howard is devoting a lot of time to 'The Dark Tower'
In this L. A. Times article The Dark Tower: Ron Howard's (plans) and passion for Stephen King Epic
Ron has admitted to devoting a lot of time to The Dark Tower, spending a full year prior to taking on the project. (My feeling is that Ron Howard wants to get it right. If this film is done correctly it could gross more than LotR with a huge King following to tout it or it could fail horribly if too much time is spent on logistics. Unfortunately, time is money in Hollywood so I have to wonder what is going to suffer to try to keep the costs down.)
Ron Howard talks about who might play the lead Roland Deschain.
What do you think about these possible actors?

Ron explained that this project is very exciting because there is so much room for interpretation. (Personally, that is the appeal of Stephen King's books; he doesn't have to spell out every aspect of his books to his readers. King has always allowed us, his constant readers, to dream and create images with our own minds based on our own experiences to fill in the grey areas. In my opinion, I have always disliked when a movie seems to "plagiarize" the work of an author. A film should have some individuality or slight differences from its original source. There should be some allowances for a director/producer to have a creative vision, otherwise it would be just a copy, usually a bad copy, of the original. I’m just sayin’.)

ATSK goes to Portsmouth, NH
My family and I are making the 9 hour trek to River Run Bookstore to see King this Thursday for the 'FDNS' signing. The only thing that I am hoping for is for the weather to warm up a bit so we aren't standing out in the cold for endless hours. :( I guess you have to do what you've gotta do to see King in person. IMO it is totally worth it.

King's Top 10 of '10
Entertainment Weekly Post has not posted this article to the website yet but it has already hit some other sites.
This has been osted on The Awards Circuit click link to view this site's listed top 10 for King.
1. Let Me In is on film that was discussed at length at the New Yorker Festival this past October.
2. The Town with the wierd, scary-looking nun on the front. This cover is wrong on so many levels but can't wait to see this one.
3. Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio, I'm sure won't disappoint. That is one I have been anticipating for a while now. Our movie watching has been happening at home lately but we did go to the theatre to see Harry Potter, great movie! (Everyone at the theatre was glued to their seats for the entire movie.)
4. The Social Network
5. Takers
6. Kick-Ass
7. Splice
8. Monsters
9. Jackass 3D
10. Green Zone
View the rest at the above link. Once they are posted on EW.com I will come back here and post them all.
