Stephen King mentioned in this article about drugs and creative types

Daily Mail: So is this proof that the drugs don't work? [Daily Mail (London, England)]
This article explains why creative people tend to use  and abuse drugs.

Stephen King's Real Horror Story: How the novelist's addiction to drink and drugs nearly killed him

This was posted on the SKMB about the above article.  Ms. Mod responded with this comment.

It appears to have taken sections from the book Haunted Heart: The Life and Times of Stephen King a biography by Lisa Rogak. Steve was not interviewed by her for that biography. I haven't read it but from what I understand, there are a number of inaccuracies in the book. Click to see post on SKMB.

Famous Alcoholics: Stephen King on the Liar’s Disease

Sorry I've only been posting Stephen King NEWS lately.

Hey, since school has let out there hasn't been much time for anything but checking for daily news updates.  There really hasn't been much news on the SKMB or even in general news about Stephen King.  If there is anything of interest I will post it. (I haven't abandoned my site, just taking a little time to spend with my son while he is on vacation.)  My son has been keeping me busy during the day.  He will be gone for a week during July so maybe I can add some new posts at that time.  I'm really hoping everyone is liking this 90 degree weather-NOT!  ha ha (I'm just glad it isn't 3-5 feet of snow that needs to be shoveled.)

Here's what he had to say:

That's not going to happen but I can wish can't I?  I think that would be one cool birthday present, don't you?  I am going to take a little time to read something written by SK in the beautiful sunshine.  It looks like it is going to be a lovely day.

'The Shawshank Redemption' on stage in the UK

Inspiring stage production of a film classic

The movie version of Stephen King's short story Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption is generally considered one of the best films ever made. Last night's Londonderry debut of the acclaimed stage adaptation showed that King's tale works just as well as a play.

The Shawshank Redemption was a two-hour tour de force, with up to 17 actors onstage at any time. Derry's Millennium Forum was transformed into the foreboding Shawshank State Prison, with mesmerising use of light, sound effects and music transporting the audience back to 1950s and '60s Maine.

The stage was perhaps smaller than some the West End production has been used to, but the cramped confines worked in the play's favour, underlining the feeling of claustrophobia.

As in the movie, narrator 'Red' -- played onscreen by Morgan Freeman and here by John Earl Jelks -- was black, rather than the flame-haired Irishman of King's imagination. The genial fixer introduced us to Andy Dufresne, an educated banker convicted of murdering his wife. California Chronicles for full story

Question of the Day #51: Do you enjoy reading Stephen King's Non-Fiction stories as much as his Fictional ones?

Yes, I enjoy Stephen King's Non-fiction (articles, short stories, novels, novellas, etc.) just as much as his Fictional stories because of his eloquent writing style.  He ropes me in to whatever real experience he is describing in a humorous and vivid way.

For example:

Ever Et Raw Meat? And Other Wierd Questions? by Stephen King

Head Down from Nightmares and Dreamscapes was a great read.  I loved reading about Bangor West's exciting season.
