Question of the Day #32: Did you sign up for the lottery to purchase Special Editions of Blockade Billy?

I wonder what my odds are?  Well, let's see there are 402 books up for grabs and how many people trying to get 1 or 2 of those 402 books?  I'm not holding my breath but it is worth a try.

  1. Yeah, it's worth a try if you have $500 or $1200 to blow on a 120 page novella! That's somewhere around $4-$10 per page. No thanks.

  2. I would like to sign, but it's too expensive for me too. Will wate for the next hardcover edition on 25th of May, it will be much cheaper.

  3. This is in response to Some call me Tim. You really do have a point on the ridiculous cost of the novella. I really have to look at it as a rare investment to be held on to and pass down to my child and so on..... My son enjoys his works, movies, and such so it would be something he could hold on to and value for years to come when I am no longer here.

  4. ATSK,

Yeah I see your point, I guess. I collect everything I can too, but usually in the cheaper limited editions (i.e the "gift" edition of Secretary Of Dreams). Maybe some day?

On the other hand, maybe if the S/L had something more to offer besides a ribbon, fancy leather, a signature or two and a traycase? AFAIK, there is not much else to distinguish this edition and command a $1175 increase over the trade. Oh wait, there is that extra illustration from an artist no one ever heard of.

It almost (not quite) makes me feel how I did when I found Scribner was asking $75 for their terrible so-called "limited" edition of Under The Dome. What a joke that was.

  5. Whew! (Wiping the sweat off of my brow...) Confirmation from Cemetery Dance came the other day telling me that I was not one of the ones to win the opportunity to mortgage my house to purchase their book. ha ha
