Question of the Day #39: Hey SK readers, where are you from?

Brookeville, MD is my blogspot. :)  I love everything about Maryland.  There is just one word for Springtime in and around Brookeville, gorgeous.  The Cherry Blossom, Dogwood and all the other flowering trees make this area so beautiful, you almost feel like you are in a storybook  fantasy driving down the streets lined with all of these wonderful trees.  Brookeville has that hometown feeling, without having to live in a small town.  Even though it is seated so close to Baltimore and Washington, DC our town has managed keep nature close at hand.  One of my most favorite things to do is leave my home early to pick up my son from school, open the sunroof of my car, and read my most current Stephen King book while waiting.  There is usually a nice refreshing breeze while drenching me in the warmth of the sun.  Ahhhhhhh!

I'm in Grand Rapids, MI. I've lived in Chicago for 5 years (which was great) and Orlando for 1 year (which sucked) but came back home for familial reasons.

I'd love to be on the east coast though, there are so many great literary opportunities that us mid-westerners miss. Great conventions (I'd love to get to Boskone some day) and tons of author signings. I had to drive 13 hours to see King during the last tour. Toronto was close(r), but since I can't get back home without a passport, that option was out.

I'm looking at grad school out east though, if I can afford it... or more likely if I get accepted!

  2. I'm from a small East European country. Еach day here is a battle for survival, something like "The Stand", and reading King is a good way to escape from reality :)

  3. D. Thanks to SK you have an outlet and what a great outlet that is. Sorry to hear that daily living is like "The Stand" in your country. What an inspiration you are to stay so positive daily. How does one stay so positive through such adversity?

  4. My work is connected with internet and I spend most of the time at home. I have little contact with the rough reality and that suits me well :)

  5. Well, I work at home and I spend most of the time at home, so I don't have much contact with the rough reality. You know, it's awful out there on the streets, a real havoc. And you are in your home, your shelter against the crawling madness out there... but you know, you know that chaos is on the other side of the door, it is there, prowling, stalking, waiting for you, thirsty to grab you... and the books are your only salvation from all this madness, especially King's, because the madness into them is even worse but the main characters (almost) always find a way to cope with it. See? Soemthing like that :)

  6. D I hope you have been well lately, free from the suckish reality of things outside of your 'Haven'. I'm glad you can find solace in SK's books, your home and a blog or two. ;)
